This is the second Project completed for PHK Developement, a design build firm in Portland, Oregon. This archway was created to emulate the Oregon Furnace, which is the oldest iron forge in the West. The actual furnace still stands today, in George Roger’s Park, lake Oswego, Oregon.
Designed for PHK Developement for the new market rate housing complex in the St. John’s neighborhood, Portland, Oregon.
Jill Torberson has been commissioned by PHK for several projects in the region, all with site specific and historical relevance to the building site. Thsi building is at the East end of the historic St. John’s bridge, which was near a shipyard at the turn of the century.

Part of the Portland Parks and recreation system, Hoyt Arboretum offers tours and trails, and an array of plants for the visitor.
Water comes from above, and drips through into the decot=rative basin below.
Originally selected for the Maryhill Museum’s Outdoor Sculpture Garden exhibition, this work remains in the permanent collection of the gallery.
This work is inspired by the healing powers of the Oak tree. It is placed at the entrance of the Good Samaritan Corvallis cancer out patient center.
Jill Torberson was commissioned by PGE to create artwork for this inner city sub station. Rather than try to hide the station, Jill uses it as a backdrop for a modern cityscape design.
Winner of one of 4 commissions to build musical benches. designed during Covid-19, so the seats are separate, but can be built as one bench. Chimes are tuned in C major.
Seats, when placed together as a bench, have a pattern that is continuous.
